The Memorandum of Understanding sets out the collaboration framework to raise the quality of Senegal's medical facilities and to achieve digitalization of the healthcare system as well.
Such partnership should result in the improvement of the information system of healthcare mainly through the implementation of the digital patient’s medical file and the rehabilitation of several health facilities including Aristide Le Dantec hospital in Dakar, Mame Abdoul Aziz Dabakh hospital in Tivaouane (Located in Thiès). The operationalization of Dalal Jamm Hospital in Guédiawaye as well as the development of private projects are part of the agreement.
“I would like to assure that FONSIS shall provide all human and financial resources needed and make utmost efforts to achieve the projects.
A development or rehabilitation planning as well as a financial and management structuring will be proposed very soon, aiming to implement quickly the projects” said Papa Demba DIALLO the CEO of FONSIS.
According to Abdoulaye Diouf SARR, the Health Minister “It’s a great opportunity for us to sign the agreement with FONSIS as it will help us to finance highly important healthcare projects.
First and foremost, we are going to carry out a global assessment of all the projects’ needs before the go-to-market to secure the investment required for their implementation” further explained Abdoulaye DIOUF SARR.
This public-private partnership is of outmost importance so far as a financial partner like FONSIS, positions itself in a sector that is not meant to be profitable. As a reminder, both parties had already signed an agreement which resulted in the establishment of the Medical Imaging Center in Mbour and the rehabilitation of Matlaboul Fawzaini national hospital located in Touba, which opening is expected by 2020.”
